We are catching lots of redfish working artificials around shellbeds, oyster rocks, and dock pilings.

The speckled trout bite has been really good also. We are catching the specs on live shrimp, mirrolures, grubs, and artificial shrimp.

We have caught lots of stripers in the upper Cape Fear river recently fishing for speckled trout using live shrimp and Rapala X Raps. We have also picked up a few black drum with the live shrimp.

There are also some really nice whiting being caught in the lower Cape Fear river.

The fishing should be on fire for the next few weeks. The redfish should be schooled up on the flats. I am ready to do some shallow water sightcasting out of the Ranger Banshee Extreme.

Check out some of photos from the past few weeks.

The inshore fishing has been pretty good on most days lately with catches of red drum, black drum, speckled trout, gray trout, sheephead, virginia mullet, and flounder.

We have had some really good catches of redfish lately. We are cathing them on artificial and on live baits on carolina rigs and float rigs fished around oyster points and marsh edges. Most of the reds are really nice fish with a few that are over the slot.

We have also caught some pretty good numbers of speckled trout on live shrimp and artificial shrimp under a popping float. The trout have been ranging from 13? to 19?.

We are also picking up some black drum, sheephead, gray trout, and flounder while fishing for the specs and reds.

The fishing should start getting really consistent when the water temps drop a few more degrees. The schools of reds should move up on the flats and the speckled trout bite will be getting better. Check out the photos from the past couple of weeks.

The inshore fishing was really good before all of the high winds we have had for the past week. It should really turn on now that this big low pressure is out of here.

We have been catching good numbers of redfish, speckled trout, and flounder on both artificial and live baits.

The bluefish 1 to 4 lbs are everywhere attacking the large schools of finger mullets.

There are also good numbers of sheephead around the docks along the ICW.

There are also some decent sized black drum around.

We have had a blast catching reds, specs, and flounder on artificials. One day my son Christian and I caught 8 or 9 reds and just as many flounder in a couple of hours of fishing all on artificials
.
I will be doing a lot of fishing over the next couple of weeks so I should have a better report next time. Check out the photos from the past few weeks.

Thanks,

We have been catching good numbers of speckled trout on live shrimp and Doa shrimp under a popping cork. There was one day that we caught over fifty specs. We have also picked up a few black drum and sheephead while fishing for the trout with live shrimp.

The redfish bite has been good also. We have caught a few over the slot fish 28″ to 31″ sightcasting artificials on the flats, but most have been caught either blind casting artificials or using live finger mullets around oyster points. The largest redfish that was caught was a 33″er on a finger mullet.

We are also catching some really nice flounder on both artificial and live finger mullets. The largest flounder caught was 5.3 lb fish caught on a live finger mullet.

Check out the photos from the past couple of weeks. These are just a few of the good catches we have had lately.

The inshore fishing has been good lately with catches of red drum, speckled trout, flounder, spanish mackerel, and sheephead.

The speckled trout fishing has picked up a little over the past week and should only get better.

My customers have had several inshore slams recently and one guy had a triple inshore slam with 10 specs, 6 reds, and 3 flounders.

The redfishing on the flats fishing has slowed a little due the high winds and above normal low tides. I am confident the fish are still there but just harder to find in these conditions. We are still catching good numbers of the reds working the oyster points and marsh edges with both artificial and live baits.

I saw a 100 lb + tarpon jump six times last week between the second and third bay of the lower Cape Fear river. My son Christian also saw two roll in muddy slough and I also talked to guy that hooked one on a fly rod in that same area. I think we may do a little tarpon fishing over the next few weeks.

The inshore fishing is getting ready to get cranked up. Check out some of the photos from the past couple of weeks. These are just a few of the good catches we have had lately.

Nearshore there have been decent catches of spanish mackerel and flounder.

The red drum fishing has been exciting lately with most of the fish being caught sightcasting with soft plastics. Many of the fish have been drag screaming over the slot fish and a blast on light tackle.

We are also catching flounder and speckled trout on the same soft plastics that we are using for the redfish.

Check out some of the photos and the tailing redfish and topwater redfish videos I have shot over the past couple of weeks. I have been doing well fishing for red drum lately and picking up a few flounder and speckled trout mixed in. Most of the reds have been caught sightfishing in shallow water 6? to 12? with paddle tail jigs and top water plugs. On the days it is to windy to sightfish we are catching them with live bait and jigs working the shell points and marsh edges.

We have also caught some nice black drum with a few sheephead mixed in.

Check out the photos and the videos I have shot over the past couple of weeks, Triple Hookup with Shallow Water Reds and Early Morning Redfish Action.
I have been concertrating my efforts on redfish and speckled trout lately and picking up a few flounder, black drum, ladyfish, and bluefish mixed in.

The spanish mackerel have been thick right off the beach.

The speckled trout bite has slacked off a bit but we are still catching them on the nicer days with light winds.

The redfish bite has been good. We just have to cover some water and locate the small schools around oyster points and docks. Some points and docks may produce as many as twelve to fourteen fish.

Check out some of the photos from the past couple of weeks. These are just a few of the many good catches we have had lately.

Good Fishing with Good People

The inshore fishing has been really good lately with catches of red drum, speckled trout, black drum, flounder and bluefish. Many of the red drum are over the slot, drag screaming fish and a blast on light tackle. The trout are not as thick as they were but are larger fish, 2 to 3 lbs. We are picking up a few flounder mixed in with the trout and reds.

My thirteen year old son Christian has been doing really well in the waterway fishing out of his 16? Carolina Skiff catching red drum, black drum, and bluefish. He is already an accomplished angler and is excellent at operating a boat.

Check out some the photos from the past couple of weeks. These are just a few of the many good catches we have had lately.

It is time to go fishing. May is shaping up to be an outstanding month.

Thanks,
