Headhunter Outdoors Report 10-29-07

October 29th, 2007 by CCCB Press

Hi folks Capt. David here with this weeks outdoors report. The spots are around and are just as liable to be in the waterway or the surf now. I’ve heard that both are producing equally well. Bloodworms or cut shrimp are the best baits to fill a cooler but the Fishbites artificial bait are just as good and it lasts longer.

The piers are reporting fair runs of Spots usually at night. The end of the pier bunch are still catching Kings too! Who knows how long it will last but a lot of folks are sure taking advantage of the bite. That also means the small boat guys still have a good shot at catching a smoker within sight of the hill. Find the bait, find the fish!

Bottom fishing is still hot as well with the fish in the usual spots. Be careful going out this time of the year, the weather can change in a few minutes.

Inside the Trout bite is picking up a little and the Reds are eating everything in sight. I’ve heard that the inlet bars are holding some huge schools of overslot Reds. Lea island and the Rich’s inlet bars seem to be the hotspots. Most of these fish are big so take the heavy stuff! Flounder are laying around dang near every dock along the waterway and Banks channel and are hitting live or artificials. Folks this cool weather this week should really get the fish fired up so all I can say is GO FISHING!

On the hunting side, why have you folks not been sending in your photo’s so we can make you famous? Hey I know somebody other than my buddies have got one. Hey folks don’t forget Duck season comes in a a couple of weeks. Have you got your mess together? Is the dog ready? Are your waders leak checked? Is your shotgun cleaned? Do you have your duck stamp? Well if that didn’t get you thinking then you ain’t a duck hunter. I finally got a photo of my buddies son with his buck for this weeks edition. The boy is white as a ghost, but he got one heck of a deer! I asked his dad the other day if he wanted to know how to get a big buck and when he said yes. I told him to ask his son! Well I guess that’s it for this week so remember to be safe and take a kid with you!
