Headhunter Outdoors Report 6-11-07

June 11th, 2007 by CCCB Press

Hi folks, Capt. David with this weeks outdoors report. What do you want to know? Thats right, where the fish are biting at. The answer to that is, Everywhere! Folks the best way to catch a fish now is to wet a hook. No matter what species is your favorite to catch, they’re biting.
Back in the sound the Reds are biting pretty good around the small creek mouths along the waterway. Live menhaden or shrimp are the best bait to use now. Some nice Specks are being caught around the Sneads Ferry bridge on live shrimp under a float. Early morning and late evening seems to be the best times. More flounder are moving and they are getting bigger. Try any structure around the inlet area. Docks, drop-offs along the channel, oyster bars and creek mouths are great spots to look for a big flattie.
Offshore, the Kings are 5-10 miles out and are being caught on the piers now. Lots of Spanish and Blues are tearing up Clark spoons too. The Cobia are here as well and are being caught on the piers too. Whatever you do, if you catch one don’t bring it into the boat before it’s worn out and then get out of it’s way when you do! They are known for going crazy and tearing up a boat when landed.
The surf is giving up some nice Reds and Black Drum and some Pompano are being caught as well. Heck everything that swims is biting now so just go fishing. Remember that they call it fishing! Not catching!
Check with your favorite bait and tackle shops for the best baits and places to fish. Now that school is getting out, Take the kids fishing and be safe. Thats it for this week folks, NOW GO FISHING! Capt. David
