Hi folks Capt. David with this weeks report from the great outdoors. Things are getting going with the water warming, lets hope this cold snap don’t mess it up. The surf is giving up some Mullet and Drum along with a stray Bluefish or two. The piers are getting the same. Back in the sound a little bait is around and the Trout and Reds are cruising, looking for anything to eat. The back end of the creeks seem to be where they are at. I took a couple of folks out to AR-360 last week and we tore the black bass up. We also caught a few Dogfish. For those of you who don’t know what a Dogfish is, It is a member of the shark family. They don’t have teeth and I hear they are good eating. Now just so you folks will know I’m not a liar, I took some guys fishing on Friday, We froze our butts off and didn’t catch a single fish. Getting skunked is part of the game folks and it does happen from time to time. Thats why they call it fishin’, not catchin’! Heck if it was easy it wouldn’t be fun, huh!
In the woods everybody know Turkey season starts SATURDAY!!!! April 14 till May 12 I’ve got plans and I hope you folks do too. North Carolina is proud to say that every county in the state has huntable populations of Wild Turkeys now. My hats off to the folks of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission for the work they do for us every year. If you are wondering what your license fees go for think about the abundance of wildlife we have to pursue. The next time you see one of the officers out ,take the time to say thanks! They ain’t the enemy, they are our friends folks. The state has passed a new law that pertains to boaters state-wide. I could tell you the offical wording and the statute number but I won’t bore you. The bottom line is, when you come upon a Law enforcment vessel with the blue light on you must slow to no-wake speed. There is a lot more defined terms but just slow down when you see them doing their job! They don’t like getting rocked any more than we do. Another one is that you have to stop when they blue-light you. I guess that one is a no-brainer but evidently we real genius’s operating boats out there. Scares the heck out of me that people like that are on the water at the same time I am.
Remember that the saltwater license is in effect now so you better have them. They ain’t much and it’s cheaper than the ticket folks.
Well thats it for this week, Take a kid with you and send in the pictures folks Capt. David
