Cape Fear Guide Fishing Report

Fall is here bringing some cooler tempertures with Carolina Blue skies,along with some great fishing,in the Cape Fear Region of North Carolina.
Red Drum bite is still going strong along the creeks just off the Cape Fear River  bait is plentiful,and so are the Red Fish !
Spanish Mackerel are back off Carolina Beach lot’s of  fish showed up Saturday some 3lb to 4lb. fish were caught.

The hard southwest wind blow is over now,light winds for the last couple of days has made for fun fishing off Wrightsville Beach,N.C. Light tackle Spanish mackerel fishing is alot of fun for the girls that just don’t care about going offshore,after the larger fish,but still want to get out and enjoy the sun and saltwater fishing experience.

  

Flounder fishing is improving with the arrival of more bait, and warmer water tempertures, red drum bite is also getting better with live bait.

I fished yesterday afternoon found croakers biting at the inshore wreck at Carolina Beach, moved into the ICW managed to locate some small menhaden, flounder started biting, then the bluefish moved in and stopped the flounder bite.

Black Drum, Red Drum, Virginia Mullet were biting in the Cape Fear River today. Carolina rigs with shrimp are the best bait to use right now, rising tide yielded the best catch.

I fished about 3 hours yesterday afternoon right close by the house in a creek just off the Cape Fear River. Fish caught were speckle trout,black drum, croakers, and several catfish!Really nice afternoon.
