Clean water is better most days for the Spanish Mackerel bite, than a dirty colored water.
It is really turning out to be a good year for the Cape Fear Guide, lots of fish are coming over the gunnels of this Pathfinder Bay Boat.
Black Drum are increasing in size & numbers Danny Redman caught several good size drum fishing with the Cape Fear Guide this week.
Spanish Mackerel bite has been consistent all week, just about every day, you can catch a good limit of these tasty fish.

On April 15 2009 I had the pleasure of taking Ron Naummowicz and his daughter Tara fishing, skies were cloudy, but the wind was light making a descent day to fish. Found the Red Drum to be biting at the inlet, caught a couple of slot size red drum, black drum, bluefish, and flounder with several releases on 16″ and 17″ red drum.
Spring time is here with the water temperutre showing 63 degrees,up 4 degrees from last Wednesday fishing should be really on fire in a couple more weeks.

I ran my first charter of the 2009 fishing season on April 8th, found the black drum bite to be excellent, young anglers Mike, Blaine, Evan Wasson from Virginia were on their first fishing trip ever.
It is really a pleasure to see the young anglers catching fish for the first time, their faces actully, light up with the excitement of every bend in the rod.
Water temperature was 59 degrees by my temperature gauge, fish were biting steady for about an hour, with multiple hook ups!
Rods used Key Largo 6′6″ light tip
Shimano Spheros 3000FA reels

The hard southwest wind blow is over now, light winds for the last couple of days has made for fun fishing off Wrightsville Beach,N.C. Light tackle Spanish mackerel fishing is alot of fun for the girls that just don’t care about going offshore, after the larger fish, but still want to get out and enjoy the sun and saltwater fishing experience.

Flounder fishing is improving with the arrival of more bait, and warmer water tempertures, red drum bite is also getting better with live bait.
